Fishing Report

Hello

Spring 2013 1837

Hello there, to all of you I know and those I have yet to meet. My name is Leaf Seaburg I have been fishing the river for more than 35 years now, I was born and raised here in the Methow Valley. After attending Bellingham Tech I received my A.A. in Applied Science and worked as a Fish Culturist for the WDFW in Winthrop for 10 yrs. I live here in the Methow with my wife Erin and two boys Leo and Finley.  You can catch my Fish Report on 97.5 KTRT mornings and afternoons or check out current and past reports here or at www.radioroot.com. After spending many years showing friends and relatives the ins and outs of fishing the Methow and surrounding area I decided to take up Guiding Professionally. I have been a fishing guide for eight years now and love working all the great folks I meet on the water.

At Methow Fishing Adventures we provide not only the knowledge of someone with an intimate level of experience and an unmatched enthusiasm to show you and your party what the Methow experience is all about. We provide access to the Methow River its tributaries the Twisp and Chewuch as well as the Methow’s many amazing lowland lakes. To book trips give us a call at (509) 429-7298 or just email us and we’ll get back to you and get you out on the water!

Oh and as well just as before you can look forward to a regular fishing report here as too, updated all through-out the week. So stay in touch, stay well and Fish On!

Methow Valley Fish Report

Well, you can never guess what fish will do.  Looks like our Steelhead fishery will be open at least through the month of November.  Fish from the Snake River have shown up in the Methow and they are very large.  There have been reports of fish over 40”.  The reason they are here is unclear, but the good news is that we can keep fishing.  Ill keep you posted as news develops.  Call Jeff at the Carlton location for more info 509-996-2000.  The Winthrop fly shop location will be closed from Nov 3rd until Nov 17th.  The Carlton location will be open Mon through Sat from 8am – 6pm and Sun 9am – 5pm.  We will also suspend the fish report until we have some fishing action to mention.  If I have also added a screen shot of the water flows for more detailed information (see below).

This is it.  It looks like one more week of Steelhead fishing left.  Even though the fishing has not been as red hot as some years, enough fish have been recorded that a closure in eminent.   The fish have all been nice sized two salts with plenty of spunk in them.  Pink is the key color for these fish.  Pink egg, pink stone fly, pink jig all work.  Get out and enjoy the nice weather and big fish while you can.  The Winthrop fly shop location will be closed from Nov 3rd until Nov 15th.  The Carlton location will be open Mon through Sat from 8am – 6pm and Sun 9am – 5pm.  We will also suspend the fish report until we have some fishing action to mention.  If I have also added a screen shot of the water flows for more detailed information (see below).

Steelhead is open and the fishing is awesome.  Bright two salt fish have been keying in on pink bead head egg sucking leeches and pink bead head egg sucking stone flies.  Most of the fish have been caught in slow walking pace water.  The water was a chilly 48 deg.  Dress warm.  Due to the high water flow, the fish are spread out all over the river and as high up as Winthrop.  I have also added a screen shot of the water flows for more detailed information (see below).
