Methow Valley Fish Report

Methow Valley Fish Report

Well, you can never guess what fish will do.  Looks like our Steelhead fishery will be open at least through the month of November.  Fish from the Snake River have shown up in the Methow and they are very large.  There have been reports of fish over 40”.  The reason they are here is unclear, but the good news is that we can keep fishing.  Ill keep you posted as news develops.  Call Jeff at the Carlton location for more info 509-996-2000.  The Winthrop fly shop location will be closed from Nov 3rd until Nov 17th.  The Carlton location will be open Mon through Sat from 8am – 6pm and Sun 9am – 5pm.  We will also suspend the fish report until we have some fishing action to mention.  If I have also added a screen shot of the water flows for more detailed information (see below).

Steelhead Gear: 7-8 wt floating line with a nymph and strike indicator set up.  Switch 6-8 wt rod work great also.  7-8 wt floating line with a dry skating fly works well early in the season.  7-8 wt floating line with a sinking line for swinging.

Summer River Gear:  4-5 wt dry fly hopper/dropper set up, a deep stone fly nymphing rig with a strike indicator and a 6-7 wt sinking line with a big bugger/nymph set up.

Lake Gear: 3-4 wt dry fly rig (damsel or callibaetis) and a 5-6 wt sink tip with a damsel nymph.
