{"id":893,"date":"2013-08-19T13:49:08","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T20:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/blog\/?p=893"},"modified":"2013-08-19T13:49:08","modified_gmt":"2013-08-19T20:49:08","slug":"methow-valley-fish-report-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/19\/methow-valley-fish-report-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Methow Valley Fish Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Methow Valley Fish Report<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The cool August weather has kept the Methow river fishing great.\u00a0 The cutthroat have been taking large dry stone fly\/grass hopper patterns.\u00a0 Try a small copper john dropper to add an extra option for the fish.\u00a0 The water was 65 deg down by Carlton and the afternoon\/evening bite is on.\u00a0 Note that the Chewuch and Twisp river are closed.\u00a0 The lower section of the Methow will close from Gold Creek to the mouth on Sept 15th.<\/p>\n<p>The lake fishing has been consistent.\u00a0 The fish are still eating Damsel fly patters and small green wooly buggers.\u00a0 Go down deep, 15&#8242; or so, you can find some in the thermocline with Damsel nymphs.\u00a0 Use a sink tip and slowly retrieve the bug back with little action.\u00a0 Once you see fish rising to eat the adult damsels (usually in the afternoon), switch to a floating line and present the adult pattern a few feet from the rise.\u00a0 You should see the fish turn and hammer your fly.<\/p>\n<p>River Gear:\u00a0 4-5 wt dry fly hopper\/dropper set up, a deep stone fly nymphing rig with a strike indicator and a 6-7 wt sinking line with a big bugger\/nymph set up.\u00a0 Lake Gear: 3-4 wt dry fly rig (damsel or callibaetis) and a 5-6 wt sink tip with a damsel nymph.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions about my report, reply to this post down below.\u00a0 I will answer your questions as soon as possible.\u00a0 Tight Lines &#8211; May 25th &#8211; Aug 15th.<\/p>\n<p><b>Alta Lake<\/b> &#8211; OPEN Apr. 27 &#8211; Sept. 30.\u00a0 Statewide size\/daily limit on all game fish.\u00a0 Surface &#8211; 187 acres.<\/p>\n<p><b>Big Twin Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 OPEN Apr. 27 &#8211; Oct. 31.\u00a0 Good cutthroat and rainbow fishing.\u00a0 Catch-and-release recommended.\u00a0 Daily trout limit 1, no min size.\u00a0 Other game fish statewide size\/daily limit.\u00a0 Internal combustion motors prohibited.\u00a0 Good boat launch.\u00a0 Surface &#8211; 77 acres.<\/p>\n<p><b>Black Pine Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 OPEN.\u00a0 Good cutthroat fishing.<\/p>\n<p><b>Buck Lake<\/b> &#8211; OPEN.<\/p>\n<p><b>Campbell Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 OPEN All game fish.\u00a0 Apr. 1st &#8211; Aug. 31 Catch-and-release.\u00a0 Selective gear rules.\u00a0 Internal combustion motors prohibited.\u00a0 Sept. 1 &#8211; Mar. 31 statewide size\/daily limit.\u00a0 Steep boat launch, ok for small craft.\u00a0 Surface &#8211;
