{"id":827,"date":"2013-05-29T11:26:44","date_gmt":"2013-05-29T18:26:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/blog\/?p=827"},"modified":"2013-05-29T11:26:44","modified_gmt":"2013-05-29T18:26:44","slug":"methow-valley-fish-report-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/29\/methow-valley-fish-report-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Methow Valley Fish Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Methow Valley Fish Report<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Rain and cool weather has kept the lakes fishing great.\u00a0 There has been hot action at Big Twin Lake with some nice sized cutthroat trout.\u00a0 Also Black Pine Lake has cutthroat that are biting well.\u00a0 Damsel nymphs have been working good.\u00a0 They work well by also imitating the callibaetis nymph.\u00a0 Use a light sink tip and a slow retrieve to entice the strike.\u00a0 Chronomid fishing is also a good bet as midge hatch come off. \u00a0 Use a 5wt rod with floating line and let the flies sink slowly.\u00a0 Slowly retrieve the flies back while keeping an eye on the fly line.\u00a0 If the fly line begins to straighten out, strip set and hopefully a fish ate your bugs.\u00a0 Experiment with colors and sizes to dial in what the fish want.\u00a0 All the lakes fish best from a boat, but Davis and Big\/Little Twin Lakes have some shore access for casting.<\/p>\n<p>The rivers are open but the flows are still high.\u00a0 Within the next few weeks we should see better conditions for fishing.\u00a0 Both Twisp and Chewuch Rivers should be fishable sooner than the Methow, so exploring these two smaller systems would be a good idea.\u00a0 Get out your deep nymphing rigs out to dredge the bottom for fish.\u00a0 Also a heavy sink tip with a streamer can attract the big ones from the fast water.\u00a0 The rivers are still to high to wade across so be careful and watch your step. \u00a0The photo below is a happy angler from High Rock Ranch.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions about my report, reply to this post down below.\u00a0 I will answer your questions as soon as possible.\u00a0 Tight Lines &#8211;
