{"id":740,"date":"2013-03-07T11:28:21","date_gmt":"2013-03-07T19:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/blog\/?p=740"},"modified":"2013-03-07T11:50:46","modified_gmt":"2013-03-07T19:50:46","slug":"methow-valley-fish-report-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/07\/methow-valley-fish-report-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Methow Valley Fish Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Methow Valley Fish Report<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Steelhead fishing has been a blast on the Methow.\u00a0 Lots of fish between Winthrop and Twisp.\u00a0 At 5:30 am I arrived in the dark at the Corral hole.\u00a0 Water temp was 41.6 deg.\u00a0 Using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hevi-beads.com\" target=\"_blank\">Hevi-Bead<\/a> egg pattern, Sky Glow Mish Roe Red, I hooked one right away and lost it.\u00a0 As the sun came up the bite got hot.\u00a0 I switch to a Stonefly and a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chironomid\" target=\"_blank\">Chironomid<\/a>.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chironomid\" target=\"_blank\">Chironomid<\/a> won.\u00a0 Bill Lockwood of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamefarmandvizsla.com\/lvzla\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Lockwood Vizslas<\/a> arrived and 3 cast in had a hog on using a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chironomid\" target=\"_blank\">Chironomid<\/a>.\u00a0 The bite stayed strong for a few hours.\u00a0 Total for 3 guys: 9 hook-ups and 5 to the hand.\u00a0 Not a bad morning.\u00a0 If you are coming over to fish the Methow, I can mail you the hot flies so you can fish your way up the river with confidence.\u00a0 Give me a call and set you up.\u00a0 If you have any questions about my report, reply to this post down below.\u00a0 I will answer your questions as soon as possible.\u00a0 Tight Lines &#8211; Greg<\/p>\n<p><b>Chewuch River<\/b>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0CLOSED for fishing as of Aug 15th<\/p>\n<p><b>Methow River<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 OPEN for Steelhead fishing from the mouth to the confluence of the Methow and Chewuch Rivers (see the Fish Map for more details).\u00a0 We expect it to stay open until around the 15th of March.\u00a0 <b>Flies to use:<\/b> double bead peacock stone fly size 8, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hevi-beads.com\" target=\"_blank\">Hevi-Bead<\/a>\u00a0glow-egg pattern size 6, frenchies size 10, black and white bead head wooly bugger size 8, egg sucking stone fly and egg sucking leeches sizes 8 or 10.<\/p>\n<p><b>Twisp River<\/b>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0CLOSED for fishing as of Aug 15th<\/p>\n<p><b>Alta Lake<\/b> &#8211; CLOSED for fishing as of Oct 1st.<\/p>\n<p><b>Big Twin Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 CLOSED for fishing as of Nov 1st.<\/p>\n<p><b>Black Pine Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Frozen over.<\/p>\n<p><b>Buck Lake<\/b> &#8211; Frozen over.<\/p>\n<p><b>Campbell Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Frozen over.\u00a0 September 1 &#8211; March 31 statewide size\/daily limit on trout.<\/p>\n<p><b>Cougar Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Frozen over.\u00a0 September 1 &#8211; March 31 statewide size\/daily limit on trout.<\/p>\n<p><b>Davis Lake\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Frozen over.\u00a0 September 1 &#8211; March 31 statewide size\/daily limit on trout.<\/p>\n<p><b>Leader Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 OPEN for ice fishing.\u00a0 Mixed bag of bass, trout and bluegill.<\/p>\n<p><b>Little Twin<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 CLOSED for fishing as of Nov 1st.<\/p>\n<p><b>Patterson Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 OPEN for ice fishing.\u00a0 Statewide size\/daily limit on trout.\u00a0 Mixed bag of bass, trout and perch.<\/p>\n<p><b>Pearrygin Lake<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 CLOSED for fishing as of Oct. 1st<\/p>\n<p>To find out how to get to any of the mentioned rivers and lakes, use our fish map to point you in the right direction.\u00a0 The map is free online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flyfishersproshop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.flyfishersproshop.com<\/a>\u00a0or pick up a printed copy at the Flyfishers Pro Shop (located in the lobby of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtgardnerinn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mt.
