Yes fishing has been incredible lately, from the mouth to Winthrop fish are being caught; Coho, Steelhead, trout, it\u2019s all been in a day\u2019s catch. As well as variety in catch there has been variety in gear selection, I have hooked fish in every fashion from swing to nymph to my favorite the skated bug. It would be hard to ask for a better fall fishery than the one on the Methow and after the summer we have seen around here it couldn\u2019t have come at a better time.<\/p>\n

Steel Release<\/p><\/div>\n

Fish at the lower end of the river especially the Coho are much brighter and spunkier, not to say they are looking bad at the top end though either. Fishing pressure has been light and as for now the water is clear through-out the system although the bottom is silt covered below Beaver creek. Flow is low though so I would recommend walk and wade fishing, there is quite a bit of public land that is not marked on the Methow so just take your time and look around.<\/p>\n

Another beautiful run on the Met<\/p><\/div>\n

Hot patterns have been pink, chartreuse, black, white and purple on the swing, stones and egg patterns on the nymph and red or orange Fuzzy Wuzzies or large Chubby Chernobyl patterns on the skate. Top of the Hole at rivers end, middle in the middle stretches and walking speed water in the rivers upper sections.<\/p>\n

River clean-up efforts still go on so while you\u2019re out on the water if you see some debris you could remove please feel free to lend a hand. There are still giant dumpsters at the \u201cCarlton Hole” in Carlton as well as the \u201c20 mile launch\u201d by the 20 mile marker south of Carlton and you can throw any flood related debris there, every little bit would help.
