We\u2019ll just have to call this the year of the hold-over with all known lakes in the area suffering virtually no winter-kill the fishing in the Methows lowland mid-land lakes has been outstanding. I have been trying to be disciplined enough to keep trying new places but I have gone back to a few more than once lately.<\/p>\n

Fishing for trout I think has been best in three places Buzzard Lake just over the Loup Loup Pass, Little Twin and Cambel lakes in the Methow. I would say the size of the fish ranks in the order previous as well although the fight of Little Twins fish could put it in first for sure. Most trout fishing has been about the staples buggers, chronis, damsels (nymph and adult) and San Juan worms.<\/p>\n

As well as trout I have been out chucking at bass as is often to my liking at this time of the year as well. The Methow isn\u2019t always talked about as a spinney ray Mecca but it’s not hard to find very large and aggressive bucket mouths ready to show you a good time. Fishing for bass is exciting and can test your nerves as well as your accuracy as casting into structure is the name of the game.<\/p>\n

I know what you\u2019re thinking though, what about the river! Well the river and it\u2019s tribs the Twisp and Chewuch are shaping up quite well in fact we have been catching fish already and it\u2019s just going to get better. My focus at this point is usually from Winthrop to Wieman Bridge on the Methow and the Twisp River right now. So far with water being fast as it is streamers and believe it or not dries are working best right now.<\/p>\n

Remember the water is FAST right now; exercise extreme caution and try to fish from bank or boat as getting in even to your knees could be surprisingly powerful right now.
