Fishing has been stayed a lot the same lately with no major changes in the weather and by a lot the same I mean fishing has been great. With no cold snaps lasting more than 4-5 days it seems this year conditions have been reliable and with it the catch.
As my home base is at the base of the Loup Loup Pass for the most part I fish middle and upper sections of the river for sake of time if I can, however yesterday for the first time in a week or two I got down to one of my favorite spots only a mile or two up from the mouth and was still hitting fish. So still as I said before, fishing is still good top to bottom and all points in between, it’s still late winter so keep thinking low and slow in the hole and under the foam.

This weekend found the family and I headed south to the “Big City” of Wenatchee to see my dad and give my wife and I a chance at the ol’ dinner and a movie in “Civilization”. As far as dinner and a movie Sumo Sushi in Wenatchee and the movie American Hustle are both very good things and as far as fishing goes the Wenatchee River was a very good thing too.

I had a couple of chances to get out, each time for only about an hour and a half but was rewarded both times with nice steelhead. The first morning I tried a hole very close to the highway just before the small town of Monitor where I landed three nice fish two one salt and one two salt all wild. The second day I tried the same hole first with no bites then went up-stream to another place my father had shown me just above Monitor by an old bridge there I landed one fish as well.

All together I have felt very happy with the fishing each time on the Wenatchee, it can look large and intimidating but if you just fish the runs that look good where you can reach you will have fun.
