Fish Report

Steelhead fishing was good today.  Lots of hungry fish focusing on small flies.  What to use: small stone fly nymphs, red and black chironomids and egg patterns.  Where to fish: deep pockets, boulder fields and tail-outs.

Big Horn River, Montana – Day 3 (the finale)

The last day of our trip.  We woke up to a blue sky and 15 deg.  Denice, Ashley and Amber prepared a delicious breakfast for us that loaded our bellies for the day.  We suited up for the final attack on the Big Horn.  Paul’s wade boots were still frozen from the previous day.  So, like any logical man, he took them to the kitchen and defrosted them in the sink with warm water.  Denice was furious.  Sorry Paul I took the picture.  I didn’t know you were going to get busted. Big Horn River, Montana – Day 2

After a good night sleep we awoke to a warm -1 deg.  After a careful consideration of weather we decided to have a late breakfast and let the air warm up.  When 3 deg appeared on the weather station we all suited up (2 pr of wool socks, wool long under ware, fleece body suite, down vest, cotton gloves covered with rubber gloves and wool gloves over it all).   Continue reading
